The projector can't be in two places.
Slotward holds the piece from pickup until the return morning. If the shelf quantity is one, a second renter for those dates is stopped before Stripe opens.
No card to start. No sales call. The equipment rentals preset is selected on the next step. You can still pick a different one.
The calendar is the inventory
You don't need a separate stock system for a small shelf. The booking counts overlapping ranges against the quantity you set.
Damage is a reason, not a vibe
When it comes back scuffed, you capture all or part of the authorization, or refund part of a charge, and you write why. The renter's page shows that reason.
The preset is two pieces, not a catalog
It starts with one projector and four speakers. Change the names, the day rate, and the deposit after the shop exists.
What the preset fills in
These are starting values. Every service, hour, and sentence can be edited after the shop exists.
- Projector, quantity 1, and a speaker, quantity 4
- A day rate plus a security deposit on each
- Cancel before the pickup date and the deposit is released
- Monday–Saturday, 9:00 to 5:00
Questions
Why isn't every deposit just an authorization?
An uncaptured card authorization expires after 7 days. If the return date is 7 days away or sooner, the security deposit is an authorization. If the return is farther out, it is charged when the rental is booked and refunded when you release it.
Does Stripe charge the day rate too?
No. Checkout moves the security deposit only, as a direct charge on the shop's connected account. The day rate is shown so the renter knows the total. Collecting that amount is between you and the renter.
