Rentals
The item is out. The deposit decides what comes back.
Slotward books a pickup date and a return date, counts how many are already out, and holds a security deposit. It does not run a warehouse, a delivery route, or late fees beyond that deposit.
No card to start. No sales call. The rentals preset is selected on the next step. You can still pick a different one.
One unit booked twice is the failure
Each item has a quantity. A booking occupies it from the pickup date up to, but not including, the return morning. A return and the next pickup can share that morning.
Seven days is the authorization limit
Card authorization holds expire after 7 days. A return inside that window is an authorization you can release, capture, or capture in part. A later return is charged, then refunded in full or in part.

What the preset fills in
These are starting values. Every service, hour, and sentence can be edited after the shop exists.
- A quantity, a day rate, and a security deposit on each item
- Cancel before the pickup date and the deposit is released
- Monday–Saturday, 9:00 to 5:00 for pickup hours
- The return morning is free for the next booking
Questions
Why isn't every deposit just an authorization?
An uncaptured card authorization expires after 7 days. If the return date is 7 days away or sooner, the security deposit is an authorization. If the return is farther out, it is charged when the rental is booked and refunded when you release it.
Does Stripe charge the day rate too?
No. Checkout moves the security deposit only, as a direct charge on the shop's connected account. The day rate is shown so the renter knows the total. Collecting that amount is between you and the renter.
Which preset should I start with?
Equipment if you rent gear by the piece, party if you count tents and tables, venue if the thing being reserved is a room, and short-term rental if check-in and checkout are the pickup and return. You pick that on the next screen.
