Deposits and no-shows: Slotward and Setmore
Setmore can take a deposit at booking on its Pro plan. It does not refund that deposit for you, and its no-show page says the app cannot charge a client after they miss the visit. Slotward is not affiliated with Setmore.
No card to start. The trial is 7 days, then $39 a month or $390 a year.

What the pricing page listed
Setmore's pricing page, checked November 1, 2026, shows a Free plan at $0 per user per month for up to 4 users. The Pro heading shows $12 and $5 per user per month, and it labels $5 as annual billing. A line on that page also lists the free plan at $0 per month, Pro at $5 per month, and team at $5 per month. The feature grid is labeled Pro and Free, so this page does not describe a separate team feature list. Setmore says a user is a staff profile, and that each staff calendar counts as a user. The FAQ says the Pro billing cycle starts the day you sign up, and that you can try Pro risk-free for 30 days and contact Setmore for a refund if you are not satisfied.
Deposits are described as a Pro feature
Setmore's deposit help article, updated July 24, 2026, says deposits are available on the Pro plan. You choose a percentage of the service price or a fixed amount. The client pays it at booking and can pay the rest later. The article says the client sees the full service price. The setup steps say a deposit needs a connected provider and name Square, Stripe, LawPay, and PayPal. The free plan's feature list includes accepting payments. That is not the same sentence as the Pro deposit. This page does not treat the free plan as a deposit plan.
Two Setmore pages disagree on per-service deposits
The help article says the deposit applies to all services on the Booking Page, and that you cannot set a different deposit on each service. Setmore's deposits marketing page says you can set deposits for specific services only. Both pages were public on November 1, 2026. They disagree, so this comparison does not treat either claim as settled. Slotward's deposit is per service. A flat amount and a percent can sit on different services, and every bookable service has one.
Refunds are manual, and a missed visit is not a later charge
The help article says Setmore does not automatically refund deposits. If you refund, you do it through the payment provider. Setmore's no-show page says you can take a deposit, a partial payment, or the full price when the client books, and that you cannot charge them from the Setmore app after that if they do not show up. That page describes a cancellation policy as the notice you require and what happens if a customer misses it, and it gives keeping a deposit as an example. Slotward also collects the deposit at booking rather than charging again after a no-show. The refund outside your window is automatic.
What Slotward does
Trial, price, and who is paid
Slotward is $39 a month or $390 a year after a 7-day trial. The trial starts when the shop is created, and no card is required to start. The client pays the deposit on your booking page. That charge is on your Stripe account. Slotward does not add a fee on top of the deposit.
The window runs itself
You write the cancellation wording and the hour count. Clients read that before they pay, and they get a manage link after they pay. Cancel outside the window and the deposit refunds. Cancel inside the window and you keep it. A no-show is kept, and you mark that after the visit was supposed to start. If you cancel the appointment, the deposit is refunded even inside the window. The window in force at booking is stored on the appointment, so a later edit does not rewrite it.
What this version does not do
- One shop and one weekly calendar. A second person needs a second shop. There is no staff roster and no waitlist.
- Every bookable service has a deposit. You cannot list a service on the booking page with the deposit turned off. The deposit is a flat amount or a percent of that service.
- The deposit is collected at booking. This version does not store a card to charge a second fee after a no-show, and it does not send reminder texts.
- No point of sale and no in-person register. Slotward books the time and takes the deposit.
Questions
Are deposits included on Setmore's free plan?
Setmore's deposit help article says deposits are available on the Pro plan. The pricing page lists accepting payments on the free plan. This page does not turn that payments line into a free deposit feature.
Can Setmore charge a card after a no-show?
Setmore's no-show page says you cannot charge the customer from the app after booking if they do not show up. The amount you can keep is what you collected when they booked. Slotward also takes the deposit at booking and does not add a second charge after the missed visit.
Does Setmore refund a deposit outside a cancellation window?
Setmore's help article says it does not automatically refund deposits. Keeping, refunding, or moving the deposit is your decision, and a refund is something you process. Slotward refunds when the client cancels outside the window saved on the appointment, and keeps the deposit inside that window.
